My Augusta Dream Come True

The Masters Golf Tournament is right around the corner. It is my favorite sports event. I take Thursday through Sunday off, turn on every television in the house, cook lots of food and park my fine ass on the couch and am mesmerized by the Bobby Jones masterpiece Augusta National Golf Course.

In 1988 I went to Augusta with my golf teacher for the practice rounds. At 7:30 am I followed Gary Player and his friend play their first practice round. Only a handful of people were up that early. It was like playing with them on a foggy morning on the manicured pine tree lined fairways. I went to Augusta a second time in 1997 when Tiger first won, but left Thursday morning and did not have the golf experience I expected. The azaleas did not even bloom that year!

Everything at Augusta is green, including the green waxed paper the sandwiches are wrapped in!  This year I am going for the entire week! My very, talented son will be with me along with 2 mystery guests (whose names I will protect). We will be staying at a home in lovely Augusta, Georgia. You can be on the lookout for some photos of me in the crowd and perhaps a golf tip or two! Since golf is probably the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, this is a dream come true!

I will post my pick for the tournament after the practice rounds next week.
